Fear: the crippling weed or the flourishing seed

Fear...... the emotional status that has the potential to cripple judgement, destroy confidence, abandon hopes, and stunt growth. It has the potential to plant a seed of self-harm, hurt, doubt and hopelessness. The process of fear potentially brings about a sense of the 'unknown' that is sometimes quite difficult to take in. Fear is felt physically and emotionally...... some make it obvious..... others disguise it in destructive behavioural patterns.

I want to challenge your thinking with this statement:

"Allow fear to EMPOWER you NOT destroy you!"

Is it really necessary to allow fear to negatively rule our lives?  Why should we allow the unknown or the discomfort of stepping outside our comfort zone dictate who we are?  Why in the world is it necessary to use fear at a disadvantage because we are worried about how we are viewed by others? Is it fair on ourselves and those closest to us to think about what 'could have been', rather than look past fear and judgement? 1 John 4:28 further emphasises on the point that fear can bring about hurt, but in love and overcoming that fear, it will be cast aside and welcome growth!

"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."

Sometimes without even realising, fear is a calling to flourish.  It's a calling to see beyond who you THINK you are and who God has CALLED and CREATED you to be! For some, fear is a defence mechanism.  But little do they know that if they take that moment to listen to God's call, trust in Him and take a leap of faith, that the ultimate rewards are beyond ANYTHING they can ever conceive! Consider Jeremiah 1:5:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

The thought that his plans for us are beyond measure is such an incredible incentive! The opportunity to find talents we never knew we had, or  learn lessons that plant the most fertile seed for personal growth!  Don't ever turn down that opportunity..... it's too precious to waste!
It's important that we challenge ourselves today to really open our eyes and look to the world.  Look to the opportunity we have to grow into who we are destined to be.  To overcome that fear and just do it with the justification that progress will happen no matter the size.  And to see fear beyond it's negative status and see it for it's enormous potential for personal growth!
